Hi people, Pls be informed that puppy scams are becoming more and more "popular".

They've recently found their way into PetsChannel.
They're also on 88db.
I've yet to come across other webs with them, bt do note these are the few OBIVIOUS points about them.

1) Pups are ALWAYS AKC registered.
2) Pups always less than a month old.
3) Pics taken are cute and with good grahics.
4) the Emails are ALWAYS from overseas.
5) Pups are ALWAYS pure breeds.

These are the 5 most obivious clues that it's a scam.
Before you adopt, always request to see the puppy, (hopefully "live" but even then, they an show u a old dog pretending it's a puppy -shrugs-) know the owner, make sure his/her reputation is good.

Happy Meeting a Dog of your dreams :)

Coppied from http://homelessinseletar.blogspot.com

In the past few months and weeks, we have been inunduated with email messages on litters upon litters of helpless pups looking for homes. Every story is sad and every picture brings tears, they all need help badly. And just when you think you have read the worse, another email comes along with another sad story or even more. Where can we find homes for these helpless innocent ones? What can we do. It isn’t just the babes who need our aid but the grown up dogs too, dogs from the same pack who will never find homes even if we can find potential adopters because the puppies will be more appealing, puppies get adopted first. The poor grown up dogs have no chance because age cannot compete with youth. That is the reality of rehoming.

The picture of loneliness and despair. What a terrible place for new life to begin. She was given no choice.

These 20 over 'Milk and Honey' pups, recently and unexpectedly found in an industrial area in the West where heavy vehicles ply, is yet another one of those sad story. These are pups from an original of 30 plus when first found. Yes we said 30+. They are from 3 litters from a pack of dogs who have bonded through tough times. As they had no where to go and no factory or building to hide in, these pups were left wandering and some have been crushed by the heavy vehicles. Others starved to death as their skeletal mother had no milk for them. What is left, the 20 plus are the more fortunate ones, the ones the feeder managed to locate and help with make-shift barricade. There are no more female pups, they formed most of the 12 who died.

They sleep in their innocence without realising there is great worry for their future

Amidst the grime and dump they call home, they dream of a rosy future.

The puppies are a mixture of milky cream, mustard to honey brown, lovely sweet colouring and just one to two months old, young and frail. The grown up dogs in this litter are kind and compassionate. When the feeder leaves food, they wait for the pups to eat their fill before venturing to join in, and usually not much is left by that time. How touchingly sad, how sweet their bonding. How heartbreaking to have to walk away because we have no place to relocate them. They all deserve good homes, every single one of them but we are appealing for homes for these pups instead because it would be almost impossible to rehome a grown stray dog, with the terrible high abandonment cases among pedigree nowadays.

Such beautiful pups who will grow to ‘man’s best friend’. Will they ever see that day?

They whine from hunger. This is the only thing they understand now, not knowing that there are far greater things to cry for in the future.

Food of kindness satisfy their immediate hunger but for how long can this go on.

If there is anyone looking for a puppy, please email or call us. We are realistic to know that we will not be able to rehome all but even if one pup can find a good home, we will be happy. The feeder is currently in the midst of sending the grown dogs, except the nursing mothers to be sterilised. The location is in the far West and we anticipate that viewing on-site will be difficult. If there are potential adopters, the feeder will take back one or two pups to have them cleaned up first before the arranged viewing. She will bring them to a proper groomer to have this done. Please understand that it is as hard for us as feeders to pick up a pup for a viewing because it will be even harder for us to place them back if no choice is made. Hard, because emotionally we would have bonded the minute we handled them and kept them for a night. We would be very torn to return the ‘unchosen’ one back to the fold but we need to do this for the young ones - we have to or they will all die. If we can save one, it would be well worth the effort.

Mothers who should be happy and proud during this joyous occasion but alas, another mouth to feed when she is also fighting for her own survival.

This black mother’s pups sadly did not make it. None of her litter survived. She did not have enough milk, her pups were too frail. Her drooping teats are the only testimony she once was a mom. Ironically, would it have been better this way? But kinder for who?

We appeal to you, to understand the ‘limitation of choices' when the feeder shows you one or two pups, we would have done our best to bring to you the cutest we could find. Please remember that pups are pups with the same waggily tail and cheerful, bouncing self. Their personalities will not be determined till they are older and at these young ages of less than 2 months, they are the same four furry legs and a tail. With your love and training, you can develop any puppy to be that kind of dog you want so please, do give these young male pups a chance. It is hard enough for us to make a choice on which would have a chance at a home.
....
Send us an email if you can open the door to happiness for the Milk and Honey pups at anaterry@singnet.com.sg or 9838-3820.

Mashmellow, Gracie, Elf

On a late Saturday night, as most families are already tucked into bed and night revellers enjoying their partying, a little black and white dog was doing neither. She was seen running frantically along Loyang Road oblivious to the speeding vehicles looking nervous and confused. Traffic was heavy at that time and very dangerous for the little dog who did not appear street-smart.

A group of NS boys who saw this from afar decided to try and coax it away to safety. Just then, the dog dashed across the road and was hit by anoncoming fast car. As if that was bad enough, with the dog lying on the road, the car behind rolled over it. A double whammy in just split seconds. Both cars did not stop to check the damage.

The rescuers managed to stop yet another vehicle, a bus from hitting her further as she was right smack in the middle of the road. She was whimpering in pain and laid not moving. She had bleeding from cuts on her body and couldn't move her hinds, but she was brought to safety.

We have called her little Marshellow and the vet has since treated her. Shehad internal injuries and a fracture to the pelvic bone but otherwise she isfine. She stayed at the vet for a couple of days, on drip for furtherobservation. Marshmellow is now discharged and recovering at a Shelter andwe are looking for a home for her. She appears to have been abandoned asshe has no mircrochip.

Marshmellow is a little Cross Terrier, is black and white and estimated tobe around 1 to 2 years old.

She is gentle, docile, sweet and mild. Despite her injuries and very traumatic accident, she has no agression and though she is in pain, she does not put up a struggle when her wound is being dressed. She has a great temperament and although a little timid with strangers, we know that given time, she will fit into your home as a family dog.

Will you be able to offer that chance to Marshmellow? It is a mircale that she is alive in a double whammy, will you make that miracle complete with aforever home for her. Marshmellow with her beautiful, loving and sweet eyes will return your love with her loyalty and gentleness.

Please sms 9799-6676 or call after 6 pm or email to winterain14@gmail.com if you wish to view her. Marshie is a small sized dog and is suitable for HDB dwelling.

Over the weekend, 2 dogs, a female schnauzer and a male maltese were brought to the shelter by an uncle who claims that he can’t afford to keep them. If Mdm Wong didn’t take them in, he will see who wants them.

Both was squeezed into a carton box behind the uncle’s van when volunteers took them in. The volunteers suspected the dogs were used for breeding. Similar to the other dogs at the shelter, they are dumped after being of no use to the breeder.

Both dogs was shaved down by a volunteer who happened to be there to help groom the shelter dogs.
They are now currently being fostered in 2 separate homes. They can be adopted separately.

Please drop an email to yee.alycia@gmail.com if you’d like to give them a home.

thy Thoughts

I've been browsing.
Around at the pets channel, mdm wong's, A.L.L & some webs.

I'm curious...
Why are so many dogs up for adoption these days?
Recession is 1 reason I'm NOT accepting.
Recession you say?
Explain to me the crowd in shopping malls.
Explain to me why so many people can afford to dine out.
Explain to me why people are rushing to sales?
In my POV, Recession as a reason is rubbish.

We seem to be in a need of fosterers more than ever.
We seem to be finding dogs on roadsides more often.
We seem to be seeing dog for free adoption more now than before.
Or maybe, a "ang bao".
But, who lies victim here?
Is it because we're human we get to fix their fate?
But why?
What have they done wrong?

Quoting from D, " There are no bad dogs. Just bad owners. "
If you don't teach your kid, would they have done the same things your dog have done?
If he's barky, have you done your best to help him just so he can be with you?
If your family disapproves, what have you done to convince them so he can stay?
If he isn't toilet trainned, how much patience have you put in just so he don't have to go?

I made a promise, regardless of how bad it gets, I'd NEVER give Prince up.
If I go bankrupt, I'd take him and hide under bridges, I'd eat with him from a dustbin.
Don't say I'm cruel to him, I'm sure, he'd rather stay by my side and endure all this then to go to a house w/o me.
Do you know what you are to your dog?
You're his world, his everything!
If you're gone, what's left for him?

At times like these, rehomers feel the financial strain faster than any of us.
We've got so many dogs to help.
We've got to pay for food, shealther and vet fees.

Shealther owners are feeling the pull as more people dump their dogs on them.
They're constainly cleaning up for the animals.
They're constainly on call that another injured dog's lying on the road.

But who? Who will understand?
Isn't SPCA all we're taught?
Yes, the perfect "dumping ground".
But while all pet shop owners are donating food, treats or items to them for sale, how many realize sometimes, SPCA is just a little to rich?
Comparing to A.L.L, mdm wong's, ASD ... They DON'T put the animals down.
imagine how many hundreds of animals need food.
But where do they get them?

I ask for a little help here.
Any amt, any item, any thing you have and you can afford to give.
Help them.
A pack of dog food that expires tomorrow.
A pack of treats that will be dumped if not sold.
Old clothes you have at home that you cann't wear anymore.
Free Smaples of floor cleaners, dish detergent.
Anything.
I'm sure, it'd come in handy.

If I had the time, I'd write in to every pet shop and request
any item that isn't important in your shop.
any item that you can afford to sell us at a lower price so we can re-sell it to raise funds.
help them help them
is it that difficult?
wouldn't it be bttr than ending up in a dumping ground?

I think, it's time pet owners start getting more responsible.
